CARPET CLEANING

At Acorn Carpet Cleaning we pride ourselves in making sure we leave your carpets clean, fresh and looking like new. There are a number of methods we can use to clean your carpets. The most popular is hot water extraction (often called steam cleaning). Hot water extraction is recognised as being the method that achieves the deepest clean.

Our Process

The process for getting your carpets cleaned begins with booking an appointment. Contact the Acorn team for a quote, and we can arrange a convenient time to clean your carpets.

On the day of your appointment, you will be greeted by our friendly carpet cleaning professionals. No pre-clean preparation is necessary – all we ask is for pets and children to be kept clear of the area while we work. It’s up to you if you would like your furniture to be moved or if you would prefer the furniture to remain where it is and be cleaned around. The Acorn team are happy to help with moving the furniture before and after cleaning the area. The only piece of furniture we can’t move for you is your television set.

Carpet cleaning starts with vacuuming. We use a professional grade vacuum which outperforms any domestic vacuum that you may use. As well as removing dust and grit, this vacuum also helps lift the pile with a brushing action.

The next stage is to apply a pre-spray. At Acorn, we use M-Power. This cleaning solution uses natural molecular technology combined with advanced biotechnology techniques. As a result, M-Power is a powerful and eco-friendly solution, which cleans without compromising on performance or safety. M-Power is non-toxic to humans and pets, fully biodegradable and derived from sustainable renewable resources.

The pre-spray is followed by ‘agitating’ the carpet – in other words, giving it a good scrub with a professional agitating machine. The machine removes impacted dry soil and lifts the carpet pile.

The carpet has now been prepared for the main cleaning process: hot water extraction. This process involves spraying a cleaning solution into the carpet under pressure. The solution will rinse the fibres free of the pre-spray, dissolved dirt, oils and loose debris.

Our process ends with us using a carpet rake to reset the pile and replace the furniture. When replacing furniture on a damp carpet, we will use polystyrene furniture blocks which protect against any stains from wood or metal bleeds.

After Getting Your Carpet Cleaned

Your carpets can take up to several hours to dry. For the best results, we recommend that you avoid walking on the area cleaned where possible until the carpet has completely dried.

Carpet manufacturers recommend getting your carpets professionally cleaned at least once a year. We hope you’ll think of Acorn and contact us again when it is time for your annual clean!

RUG CLEANING

Rugs tend to be neglected by homeowners when it comes to cleaning. Perhaps this is because, unlike carpet, many rugs can be taken to the door and given a good shake to remove most of the superficial dirt. At Acorn Carpet Cleaning, we hand clean all rugs for a better and more thorough clean.

Our Process

Once you have booked an appointment with Acorn, our friendly carpet cleaning professionals will come to collect your rug at a time which is convenient for you.

Before cleaning your rug, we carry out tests to identify the fibres and the stability of the dyes. We then start by vacuuming both sides thoroughly and pre-treat the rug with one of our spray-on traffic lane cleaners.

The next stage is to lightly ‘agitate’ the pre-spray down into the pile (give that rug a scrub) to loosen any greasy soils. Using a wet soil extraction machine and hand tool, we extract the dirt using a fabric rinse. The rinse agent is approved by the “Woolsafe” organisation and gives a better texture after the rug has dried.

After cleaning we carefully reset the pile to leave it looking clean and fresh.

We recommend that the rug is given time to dry thoroughly after cleaning. This is especially important if you intend to roll it up for storage. Equally, a damp rug should never be placed on carpet as the dye may transfer to the carpet during the drying process. For this reason, it is often more practical for us to take the rug away to our workshop to carry out the cleaning process.

I had Acorn Carpet Cleaning do my hallway carpet and am incredibly happy with the results. The hallway looks great and all of the marks that were there before are now gone. I popped out while they done the work and since they had finished and were waiting for me to come back they buffed my hardwood kitchen floor FREE OF CHARGE! I really can’t speak highly enough of this company.
